Presentation

Applied genetics: from the laboratory to the farm: what does innovating at the source mean?

This presentation will propose a cross-disciplinary dialogue on the role of applied genetics in food innovation, from laboratory research to farm production. Key questions will be addressed, such as why genetic innovation is often invisible yet transformative, what regulatory, cultural or communication barriers it faces, how its relevance can be communicated to the public, and what advances can be expected in the next 5–10 years. The aim is to generate conversation between science and the primary sector, exploring how innovation at source can redefine the food of the future.
